I'm curious to know who uses these in there springers for live shooting?
I have been using various lighter pellets for plinking & target shooting but a reputable gunsmith yesterday advised me springers don't like heavy pellets?... just wondering if extra recoil could potentially damage a scope?.

I have used them in springers at .177, .22 and .25 calibres with zero issues.

There is nothing to say you should not use heavy pellets in a springer but I find for smooth shot cycle, pellet trajectory I generally stick to a pellet around 14 grains. Superdome 14.5 gr in my HW99.

It is a general rule of thumb that springers run more efficiently with the lighter pellets, and vice-versa with a PCP, but a springer that is untuned, twangy and exerts a lot of torque during the shot cycle is more likely to cause damage to your scope than a heavy pellet.

Hades weighing 15.89gr should not be considered a "heavy" pellet in 22 calibre.
Having recently tested some, muzzle velocity was less than JSB Express, but the extra weight equated to equal power, so no loss in efficiency of shot cycle.
TX200 & HW97K used in test.

You won't know till you've tried a few different pellets

Too heavy for any sub 12 gun...may as well use a catty...FAC PCP food.
I was using the 16gn Hades today out of a R10 and a Prosport today to good effect ,hitting the 55yd targets.
Years ago, i used H&N Pointed in a BSF B55
and i think they were 17gn.
In these more illuminated days it's 16 gn and under for springers...usually around 14gn.
JSB RS or Crosman/ Webley Accupell.
Not busted a scope yet.

My 22 hw35 seems to prefer 14 something pellets but that could be because I'm lead to understand that they run happiest around 10 ftlb. I'd imagine the power vs weight relationship isn't a linear one and depends on more variables

Used to have a 22 remington unmolested from new that shot bisley magnums happily but god knows what power it was making as I was new to shooting and then a chronograph cost more than the gun

At high 11's, my .22 HW35 is a hammer on furry critters out to 35yds with RWS Hobby.

When I get mine better suited to it's new tbt kit that's what I'd like to get to but it's got too much preload and I'm going to have to collapse at least another coil to settle it. Thanks whitevanman

I have been using the Hades 15.89 grain in my Pro Sport and HW90k for quite a while now. Accurate for both pests and targets. I wouldn’t use anything else now as they work so well.

The Hades in .22 are extremely accurate out to 55yds in my recently acquired Ratworks R10.
So much so that i will give them a whirl on the HFT course.
Had a tin in the boot for years and never used them before ..but then again, not had a .22 R10 either.
As to the new heavies, i wouldn't want to be a Rabbit anywhere near a gun that can throw them at 900fps especially if they are as accurate as these 16gn ones.

dont know much about modern effects of ammo on springers but bought a Hatsan Airtact - last week. From a Norfolk gunshop. Can sent the link (dont know if they can post pellets) but bought some Bisley Magnum 22gr- my cheapie Hatsan seems to like it. The gun shop had tins of 200 for about £7 I would try them. I have no connection to this business- just a receipt for my air gun purchase from them last Friday

No point in changing horses in mid stream...if you're getting good results on paper, using what you're presently using, they'll do just fine on live targets as well. Personally, 14.6 grain FTT is as heavy as I'll go in .22...no need for heavier pellets moving slower.
