Attention sports fans and supporters of young athletes! We have an exciting opportunity to recognize and celebrate the incredible talent of female high school athletes in our community. The LSJ Girls High School Athlete of the Week is up for grabs, and we need your votes!
Each week, we showcase remarkable individuals who are pushing boundaries and achieving greatness in their respective sports. This week, we have three exceptional nominees who are ready to take center stage.
But here's where it gets controversial... the power to decide the winner lies in your hands! So, let's dive into the details and explore the remarkable achievements of these athletes.
First up, we have Hailey Creisher, a senior cross-country runner from Leslie. Hailey broke through a significant barrier this season, clocking an impressive time of 17:51.9 at the Greater Lansing Cross Country Championships on October 11th. Not only did she finish as the runner-up, but she also claimed victory at the Country Mill Classic Pink Invitational on October 7th. An incredible double achievement!
Next, we turn our attention to Peyton Howarth, a golfer from Charlotte. Peyton's performance at the Division 3 golf regional on October 8th was nothing short of remarkable. She shot a personal-best 18-hole round of 77, earning her the medalist title. But the impact of her performance went beyond individual glory; it helped Charlotte qualify for the state finals as a team, placing third overall. Talk about a team player!
And this is the part most people miss... we have another senior athlete making waves in the volleyball court. Ariyanna Johnson, a middle hitter from East Lansing, has been on a killing spree (pun intended!). She recorded an impressive 17 kills in a victory over Waverly and followed it up with 11 kills in a sweep of Okemos. But that's not all; Ariyanna also surpassed the 500-career-kill milestone during a tournament on October 11th. An achievement that deserves a standing ovation!
So, who will be crowned the LSJ Girls High School Athlete of the Week? The decision is yours! Voting is open until noon on Wednesday, October 15th.
